This story is really not for impressionable little kids. A poor girl first given away by her father to the King, without her consent. Then the King locks her up and threatens to kill her if she doesn't turn straw into gold. He threatens her not once but thrice. Then comes the evil, little man who helps her in return for first her jewelry then her first born. Frankly, I hated the king more than the main baddy. That's the story in a nutshell. I can't figure out what this story is trying to teach kids.

The book was great and beautifully written. thanks a lot for sharing it with us. My daughter loved it so much that she reads it every single day and told this story in her class on her cool activity day.

I gave four stars because the king wasn't really nice to her at first and only marry her because she made him rich......
