About this ebook

Power, privilege, and the rigid rules of class leave two hearts yearning for connection in the sizzling new Society of Gentlemen novel from K. J. Charles.

Among his eccentric though strictly principled group of friends, Lord Richard Vane is the confidant on whom everyone depends for advice, moral rectitude, and discreet assistance. Yet when Richard has a problem, he turns to his valet, a fixer of unparalleled genius—and the object of Richard’s deepest desires. If there is one rule a gentleman must follow, it is never to dally with servants. But when David is close enough to touch, the rules of class collide with the basest sort of animal instinct: overpowering lust.

For David Cyprian, burglary and blackmail are as much in a day’s work as bootblacking—anything for the man he’s devoted to. But the one thing he wants for himself is the one thing Richard refuses to give: his heart. With the tension between them growing to be unbearable, David’s seemingly incorruptible master has left him no choice. Putting his finely honed skills of seduction and manipulation to good use, he will convince Richard to forget all about his well-meaning objections and give in to sweet, sinful temptation.

Richard finally gets his story and a wonderful one it is. This is the third book in the Society of Gentlemen series and I loved it. This can be read as a standalone but I think you will enjoy it a lot more if you read the other two books first. I read books one and two out of order and it didn’t matter but this one is about the leader of the group of men called the Ricardians. There is so much information in the first two books that will make this one more meaningful if you read at least one of them first. (I’d suggest book two if you can only read one of them.) Lord Richard Vane is a member of the aristocracy – there is no way he can associate with a servant – but he wants his valet, David Cyprian, in the worst way. He’s managed to control his desires for years but when fate brings them closer together he finds he can’t resist David – especially when he finds out that David wants him just as much. This book revisits characters from the previous two books and we find the Ricardians in danger of being revealed as sodomites – an accusation that if proved to be true could cost them more than just their place in society. Once again, David Cyprian’s unique talents are called upon to help the Ricardians. The suspense in this story was delicious; I was glued to my ereader from start to finish. I don’t have to words to do this book justice. K. J. Charles writing carries me away to another place where I’m totally immersed in the story she is telling. My heart hurts for Richard and David and I want so badly for them to get their HEA. This story had my emotions all over the place – the best kind of romance there is, in my opinion. Love is love, it doesn’t matter if it’s M/M, M/F or F/F, and KJC has once again written a captivating story. All of the books in The Society of Gentlemen series were so good; I’m truly sorry to see it come to an end. I know KJC is working on a new series and I can’t wait to read it. *****Reviewed for Xtreme-Delusions***** I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Complex and fascinating characters with good chemistry and just the right amounts of tension and heat. I couldn't put it down! This is the first book I read from the series, and while it stands perfectly well on its own, it does refer back to some events from previous stories.
