La obra de teatro que relata la historia de Peter Pan, el niño que no quería crecer fue escrita por James Matthew Barrie y llevada a escena por primera vez en diciembre de 1904. A causa del éxito que la obra obtuvo, Barrie la reescribió y la adaptó a la forma de novela, la cual fue publicada con ilustraciones siete años más tarde, en 1911, bajo el título de Peter Pan y Wendy.
La presente edición es una adaptación de la novela, en donde el personaje principal Peter Pan, el niño que nunca creció, representa un estado idílico de infancia eterna y es sobre ese tema que gira la obra de Barrie.
