The book is dedicated to researcher Seiki Akama on his sixtieth birthday. Akama is one of the critical scientists who dedicated himself to understanding the use of alternative logic in the various issues of AI, ranging from its foundations to concrete applications and philosophical reflections.

About the author

Jair Minoro Abe received B.A. and M.Sc. in Pure Mathematics from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He has also received the doctorate degree and Livre-Docente title from the same University. He is Full Professor at Paulista University, Brazil, and has served as Coordinator of the Logic Area at the Institute of Advanced Studies, University of São Paulo, Brazil (1987–2019). He dedicated his scientific career to the applications of paraconsistent systems. He is internationally recognized as one of the pioneers of the domain. His research interest topics include Paraconsistent Annotated

Logic and AI, ANN in Biomedicine and Automation, among others. He is Senior Member of IEEE.
