Ward immerses you in the action of her story from the first page. Action also takes many forms in this novel. Not only do we see the Brotherhood’s battles, I love this author’s writing style. The in-your-face, rough & real attitude of the characters really shines through, making you feel like you’re part of the story. Ward develops this world in a larger than life manner that makes it easy for readers to picture the multiple different aspects occurring at the same time. Zsadist is a larger than life, scary MoFo, but I thoroughly enjoyed him. The in depth way that he is developed here (building on what we know from previous novels as well) puts everything in context. His strength and vulnerability are essential to who he is. The flashbacks into his past were heartbreaking but provided a great deal of context. Contrasted with Bella you have a heady mix. The manner in which they fight against yet understand one another is breathtaking. I enjoyed getting to know the other characters’ stories and about their lives as well. This broad approach puts Zsadist’s story in context within the larger picture of the Brotherhood. I really enjoyed the look at the entire Brotherhood

I have read this so many times but this is the first time I have listened to the audio I started the whole series from the beginning listening to the original audio releases (lmao yes they are on CDs) This is book three and to understand the dynamics and the storyline you do need to read the proceeding two books - but never fear they are worth it Be prepared going in to bawl like a baby - In no way am I joking - I was crying on my morning walk - I think I actually scared a couple of small humans It is not just Z that has to face some very difficult realities - the rest of the brotherhood also has to face some stark truths - Some must come to terms with change - Others need to face their demons before they destroy them This is a long-running series that goes beyond romance. It is about family. It is about overcoming personal demons, it is about loss, acceptance, faith,... I could go on but this is a journey each of us will experience differently. Some things will hit home - resonate on a personal level I do know for each of us it will be different but it will be an adventure that will not soon be forgotten Enough of the sappy - I am still drying my eyes and I am sure my emotions are clouding my words Take the plunge - be it audio, ebook, or physical copy I will be back to correct my grammar - things are still a bit blurry

One of my favorites. The severe emotional trauma and the power of love to heal, the power of forgiving yourself and others, and the need to get over your demons to become the person you love deserves makes this book truly special in more than just a surface skimming romance novel. This book can be helpful to those with their own trauma, showing the power of doubt, healing, and accepting help, and letting go of the past in order to allow yourself a future. It hits in a compellingly tragic and yet hopeful way that hopefully people will see and realize isnt only done in fiction. JR Ward makes her characters lifelike and truthful in their lies, deceit, emotions, and values. This novel is truly an excellent work of the written word.
