About this ebook

Two people at a crossroads, two remote mountain cabins, and a Christmas they’ll never forget.

Sophie Furnell loves her job as a 911 operator, and she’s good at it. One call at a time, she makes her community a better place. But one night, she has to tell a caller that help isn’t coming. Soon after, her job is defunded. Disheartened and broke, she sets off for the Adirondacks to house-sit her grandmother’s rental cottage.

As violence sweeps through his neighborhood, Cole Marick defends his bicycle shop and loses. His wounds heal, but the business he’s worked hard to build is destroyed, along with his faith in humanity. Leaving the boarded-up neighborhood storefronts behind, Cole retreats to his family’s Adirondack fishing camp.

Amid towering snow-laden trees, two neighbors have come seeking refuge. But not even the shimmer of holiday lights against new-fallen snow is enough to bring Christmas joy to their two damaged spirits. Neither has seen much in the way of miracles lately, but as a snowstorm blows in and Christmas approaches, they discover that miracles come in many forms.

This story was a mix of happy, sad, pain, fear, forgiveness, anger, family, dreams, love and Christmas. I really enjoyed seeing two people meet and connect at a point in their lives when they both don't feel ready for the host of feelings and wants that come along. The story flowed well and held my interest, I could have happily continued reading about these two. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sophie is a 911 operator and she loves it but when she is good that she has lost her job due to lack of funding Sophie decides to house sit for her grandmother in Adirondack and that will give her time to decide what she wants to do next. Cole has returned to his family in Adirondack after being injured while defending his bicycle shop and losing everything. Sophie and Cold are both damaged by there experiences and they feel no joy as Christmas approaches but will they get a miracle that they are both not expecting. This book is brilliant and even though it is full of ups and downs the magic of Christmas gets to everyone when they least expect it. I loved the characters and the storyline as it pulled you into the story and makes you believe in miracles. This is the first book that I have read by I L Jarvis but definitely not the last and I look forward to reading more in the future as it was so well written and definitely worth reading. Sophie and Cole both experience losses through the civil unrest that happens in the city. Confused about the direction that their lives have taken, they both take refuge in family cabins in the small town of Cedar Creek, where they meet and become neighbors. Sophie's love of Christmas really warms up Cole's hurting heart and he can't help but to feel better, which in turn makes Sophie happy too. All the time spent together really brings them close and they have to decide if they want to pursue something further or just stay friends. Can a Christmas miracle help them find a solution to their troubles? This was a lovely book about two people whose lives were bent by unfortunate circumstances, but who refused to let themselves be broken. I loved the ending. I thought it was super sweet.
