An excellent second addition to the series. Lara’s respect for Robert comes into question when a body is discovered outside his building and he refuses to acknowledge the possibility of the traitor or a God’s involvement. After questioning his judgement, she decides to go against his wishes by contacting Detective Ronin. Once face to face he gives her shocking information. Something of which just may destroy the trust she has in her mentor. This well-written short read was entertaining and I can’t wait to read what happens next. Here is a big who did it question. Lara is trying to find the traitor, instead she finds a dead body and more questions. She finally meets with Eddie Ronin even though she is told to stay away from him. This leads to more questions and another suspect which totally surprises her. Now we must wait for the next book to find some of the answers. My question is will Lara get together with Richard her idol or Dalton. The intrigue and secrets swirl ever tighter around Lara as she continues trying to find her footing at the Godslayer Academy. Now that she's in a position where she feels like she can make a real difference, Lara doesn't like hearing that she can't always jump in and take action. She's chafing under the restrictions and also trying to sort out what all these new confusing emotions mean. But, when she decides to act, will it prove to be in the best interests of the Academy or only herself? I guess I'll have to hang on for the next book to discover the answer to that question.
