Arabic is the official language and Islam is the predominant religion of the country. The country has a thriving oil-based economy with oil reserves accounting for nearly half of the country's GDP. Kuwait is known for being a rich and prosperous country, with one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. The country has made great strides in modernizing its infrastructure and developing its human capital. Kuwait has its own distinct culture and history, including its role in the Gulf War in 1990-1991, and is known for its cuisine, traditional dress, and hospitality.
