The main female character is the sister of the main male character's best friend. This rather complicates matters when they find themselves attracted to each other. So begins the journey getting over hurdles to forge a relationship and perhaps a happy ever after. Besides the romance that was evolving, the author presented the reader with some issues, that unfortunately, are not that uncommon. The main male character has a horrendous home life when he was growing up and has virtually no family anymore. His best friend shares his family with the main male character. This is an interesting turn for the main male and female characters, as the parents welcome the main male character into their home with open arms. He is initially startled but a cohesive, loving family unit as he has never experienced it. It was great to read about this turnaround with connections that he finally received in his life. This reader learned that it is sometimes necessary to show, not only support to a friend, but also,F to show compassion. Feel good-type of reading material. Thank you Ms. Stevens. family takes all shapes. Jake may no longer have his deceased less than stellar mother in his life, and his father in prison, but buddy Ben shared the gift of his own family with him. Baby sister, now pushing thirty, nurse Andy is a strong woman, and someone Jake never forgot. If they can survive the dram of a small town, well meaning friends and family, and crime drama, they may have a fabulous future ahead - building a real family, with each other and everyone who is in their hearts - together. When Jake comes home with his buddy Jake he never imagines how much his life will change. Ben's family takes him in like one of their own. He is attracted to Andrea but out of respect to his buddy his doesn't act on it since he'll be leaving. However a few years down the road he is back permanently and when he sees Andrea again he knows she isn't getting away this time. Andrea is on her way to her brother's wedding when she gets a flat tires and isn't exactly dressed for changing it. When she hears someone stopping she's relieved especially when she recognizes Jake. They start hanging out together after the wedding and exploring what they can be together. Things are going smoothly until others try to interfere with their relationship. Can they make things work between them? Can Jake get used to having a family? This is a great story once I started I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is well written and very entertaining story I would recommend it to any book lover. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
