About this eBook

An all-new digital single—part of the New York Times bestselling series based on the blockbuster Xbox® games!

The military-grade artificial intelligence known as Iona has only one week to live. After that, the UNSC will legally terminate her seven-year existence in order to stave off the threat of the data corruption phenomenon known as “rampancy,” a condition that will eventually take hold of her functionality and persona, endangering all those around her. In a last-ditch effort to save herself, Iona has successfully launched an unprecedented legal appeal against her own death sentence—a case being watched very closely at not only the highest levels of human government, but by others with a very different agenda…

This book is DRM locked and can not be read on certain ereaders. It requires downloading and using "Adobe Digital Editions". This is not mentioned in the description, I don't agree with Adobe's ToS or illegal data sharing, and is not even compatible with my computer. I'd recommend purchasing or finding this elsewhere. I would not recommend Amazon, since they have the same problem. Yargh.

This short story is really good. Delving into morality like that is a first for the Halo universe, and I can't wait for them pick up on this little strand.

I would have paid $.495 if I could have read it before the purchase. $.99 is overrating both the length and the quality of the story. The ending was flat and meaningless. The story felt incomplete, and extended to a length the author thought they could sell. Pass on this one, unless you love the Halo universe and have read every single other story within it already.
