I started all Halo books in order and enjoyed all so far, but this one, you can skip and not miss anything. I found it hard to read, and the lack of action lost me on many occasions. You come from previous books with Spetans and space battles to that book .... I wish someone had told me to skip it.

I've read most of the Halo book and absolutely love them. Contact Harvest stood out tho. It's a great first contact story even if you're not so into Halo and the Spartans and whatnot. This is one of those books that left me a little heartbroken to finish. Out of all the Halo books, This one and Fall of Reach, imo, are the best of them.

Tells you more about Sergeant Johnson. Great insight on what actually happened at harvest and humanity's first contact with the covenant.
