Charlotte Perkins Gilman (July 3, 1860 August 17, 1935), also known as Charlotte Perkins Stetson, her first married name, was a prominent American humanist, novelist, writer of short stories, poetry and nonfiction, and a lecturer for social reform.Abraham Grace Merritt (January 20, 1884 August 21, 1943) known by his byline, A. Merritt was an American Sunday magazine editor and a writer of fantastic fiction. The Science Fiction and Fantasy Hall of Fame inducted him in 1999, its fourth class of two deceased and two living writers.Edward Bellamy (March 26, 1850 May 22, 1898) was an American author, journalist, and political activist most famous for his utopian novel, Looking Backward.David Lindsay (3 March 1876 16 July 1945) was a British author best remembered for the philosophical science fiction novel A Voyage to Arcturus (1920).Herbert George Wells (21 September 1866 13 August 1946) was an English writer. Prolific in many genres, he wrote dozens of novels, short stories, and works of social commentary, history, satire, biography and autobiography. His work also included two books on recreational war games.
