About this ebook

An emotional, women's fiction stand-alone novel from USA Today Bestselling Author. All We Never Knew is a powerful "must-read" story of one woman's journey of strength.

What if life really begins at 40 because the life you've meticulously built for yourself is no longer possible?

As far as Maren is concerned, life is perfect and it’s just about to get better. On the cusp of her fortieth birthday and with her only child almost grown, it's time to start putting herself and her marriage first. But when the butterflies in her tummy turn out to be morning sickness, Maren’s world is flipped upside down with an unplanned, high risk pregnancy—one she's ashamed to admit is unwanted.

Overnight, everything changes and the ripple effect of the baby she's so unsure of is felt in every corner of her life. Her perfect life slowly disappears. Her teenage daughter looks for attention in the wrong places. Her best friend inexplicably blows up and stops speaking to her. And worse, her once doting husband pulls away when she needs him the most.

Just when she's sure things couldn't possibly be worse, a shocking discovery rocks Maren's world. Faced with a devastating deception, a truth she can no longer ignore, and an impossible choice, can Maren stop her life from completely unraveling? Or is All We Never Knew too much for love to overcome?

** Spoiler Alert ** This book was very difficult to read for at least 90% of the book. These people never really communicated with each other on an honest level. There's Maren, who seems to be just floating through life. Then theres Davis, a cheater. Her supposed BFF Sabrina, who to me was a lying and manipulative skank, A spoiled brat for a daughter, Rylee. And a termagant for a mother. All of these people who were supposed to love here were just selfish.. period!! I was incensed by Davis and Sabrina's actions and the lame excuses they used to justify their almost 20-year affair. The reasons were weak and stupid. Maren, for the most part, was oblivious and never wanted to make waves. And the people who claimed to love her were just selfish and unnecessarily cruel. I hated that Sabrina got to have her baby and basically get a happily ever after with a new man. After she busted up her best friend's marriage. Yet, Maren loses her child. How is that fair?

Not Elena’s usual but still very engaging. I had to keep reading because I wanted to know what happened next. The end kept me wanting more. Good read, many dilemmas and human emotions. Very surprising at times too. I enjoyed reading it. Well done Elena Aitken. Ricin2. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is definitely a departure from Elena's usual work but that did not make this story any less strong. Each chapter from a different perspective leads to an unexpected ending after a series of world altering events change how her characters move forward with their lives. This story is far from a typical romance because in fact it is not a romance but it does have Elena's well developed characters who grow as the story moves. I wanted to know more after the story ended for the main character as she had the most dramatic change ever in her 40 years. It was her personal growth to move past the events that changed her which truly stuck out to me. Elena has once again built a character who does not allow her troubles destroy her.
