Eiichi Shimizu, natural da província de Osaka e Tomohiro Shimoguchi, nascido em Ishikawa, são os responsáveis pelo texto e desenho da série de mangá Ultraman, baseados no universo criado por Eiji Tsuburauya. Os mangakás se conhecem desde a época escolar e sempre sentiram vontade de trabalhar em conjunto. Tomohiro Shimoguchi ainda trabalhou como assistente do mangaká Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (desenhista de Neon Genesis Evangelion) e trouxe para seu trabalho um pouco do que aprendeu.
