Ive read the original ender series, shaddow series, and now this prequel series. So worth the read, this book is a page turner and ends on a major cliff hanger. Its great to see how this book ties into enders game. Like the birth of the little doctor, the idea of children being ready for war, light speed travel for humans! Orson does this very subtley with a character line, so subtle that if you're not paying attention you'll miss it. Great book I can't stop talking about it

The way that Card and Johnston build upon the technology and personalities that they created for this series while still paying attention to those aspects that eventually come into play in Ender's world is amazing. The pacing of four separate-yet-connected story lines and what they can ultimately mean for the conclusion of this series gives the reader hope while still hinting at all the things that could possibly go wrong. This is storytelling and suspense-building at its finest. As we don't have all of the details of what took place during the early days of the Formic wars, this series (and especially this book) fills in the gaps while still paying homage to the story that started it all. As someone who read the Ender series as a teenager, I look forward to better understanding some of the backstory behind the iconic figures that led to the climactic war with the Formics. On to Earth Awakens!

I enjoyed this, it has more plot to give and keeps one interested. Part of the suspense is figuring out how it will tie in with Ender's Game. Still, it seems a little slow in coming.
