DARK ALPHA’S SILENT NIGHT by Donna Grant is an adult contemporary, paranormal romance holiday novella found in the author’s REAPERS series-a spin off from the author’s Dark Kings series. SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone but a group known as the Others, have declared themselves the rulers of the Fae, and their next ‘mission’ is to take down the Reapers, having failed to destroy the Dark Kings. Told from third person perspective DARK ALPHA’S SILENT NIGHT focuses on the preparation for the Christmas holidays. With the approach of the Christmas holidays Half-Fae/half human River misses the human celebrations. In an effort to bring more joy to Erith’s realm, where most of the Reapers now reside with their mates, River enacts a plan to celebrate the holidays, bringing the mates together in an effort to organize a party for Christmas Eve. DARK ALPHA’S SILENT NIGHT follows the Reapers and their mates as they decorate and make preparations for a holiday celebration. From food to location, trees and gifts, the magic of the season is helped by the magic of the Fae. A sweet and wondrous tale about family, friendships, relationships and love.

I love ALL the Reaper books but this short novella was truly endearing. Especially for the Christmas (Holiday) season. Not to mention it takes place in Erith's realm. The excitement and the pure beauty in the book was palpable. It mostly starts out as River, Kyran & Breac's story but it quickly becomes a group effort. Split in half, I should say. The mates are surprising the Reapers and the Reapers are surprising their mates. However, through all the joy, there is sadness as well. For instance Aisling still isn't home or heard from yet & Balladyn doesn't have a mate. The Reapers and their mates plus Erith & Cael do carve out several hours to just relax and have a wonderful evening. I do have to warn my fellow emotional readers: The gifts Erith gives to Cael & Balladyn are so heartwarming i cried through half a box of tissues. Then when the mates saw what the Reapers did for them & one other, I cried through the other half of the box. It firmly had ahold of my heartstrings and tugged ha

A short, sweet and emotion-packed glimpse into the lives of the Reapers and their mates in the approach to Christmas. The Reapers kind of forgot that their mates, humans and halflings alike, all grew up on Earth and celebrated Christmas in various forms. Now residing in Erith's realm the mates no longer have the festive period to look forward to. But River has a plan to change all that! River, Kyran & Breac's are just the cutest family, the only family with a child on the Realm. I loved the way the mates banded together t surprise the Reapers with a festive party they'd never forget. But not to be outdone the males also whip up a surprise or two - even Erith gets surprised! The Reapers are still feeling the loss of Aisling who is still on the hunt and Balladyn is still acclimatising to being a Reaper, and the only solo Reaper on the Realm.. But he does have a cute buddy to bond with! Plenty of sweet, smexy and emotion-filled scenes to steal your heart.
