About this ebook

Dive into this fun and quirky Urban Fantasy series that draws from Asian mythology!

When I say I have magic, you might envision grand illusions, fireworks, or mind-bending tricks. I hate to disappoint you, but I can barely make a broom dance. Hence why my place in the magical world is giving a trim to the unearthly and fantastical.

And now that the supernaturals have come out in public, things are getting seriously interesting. Especially when one of my regulars goes missing.

I’m never one to stand on the sidelines when a friend’s in trouble, so of course I go looking for him. It should be noted that trying to unravel a supernatural mystery with the magical prowess of a wet noodle isn’t the smartest of ideas.

How quickly do things spiral out of control, you ask? Let's just say I'm on a first-name basis with trouble. With my paltry magic, I'm in deep, and it's far from comfortable.

Will I manage to find my missing friend and keep my head above water?

Dive into Lifted by Water and find out.

Please note that this is book 3 of a continuous series. The author recommends that you start with book 1, Touched by Magic.

Ok, so this is the third book of the Razor's Edge series and it fits right in. Normally I'm not a fan of books this short, because I prefer a little more depth and background than you usually get with books under 200 pages. But in this case, the world and the characters still feel intricate and interesting, it's only the adventure that is rather straightforward with not too much build-up. And I actually find it quite refreshing now to read something light and quick, yet still atmospheric. Kind of like sometimes it's nice not to eat a full meal, but just some delicious street food (maybe from a Panongian food stall? ;). This time the story is particularly linear, just one thread. But we still get quite a lot of additional information about the world and the events that are now unfolding after book 2, and the mystery around Apiya's magic deepens. So, all in all a delightful read, well-paced, written in a very warm and engaging voice - definitely a recommendation!

So the description of this book covers that, my review is about quality. It's a good little book in a series, which at the time of this review is only completed to this book, there are more planned I've heard. Each book of the series has it's own complete little story that reads quickly and easily. Each book also furthers the series story, and in this one I get a slow burn romance feel more strongly. The main character has a back story that is slowly, very slowly, being revealed and it's starting to feel like she's someone important to the magical community, maybe. Or maybe someone powerful if she can just figure it out, or remember. Bottom line is if you've read books 1&2 THEN your need to read book 3 too.

I have really liked this series and have learned a lot about Asian culture (mostly mythology) from it. This is another hit, and an improvement from the last book (still good, though). The plot thickens and gets more and more interesting.

About the author

Celine is a nomadic writer who roams the world laptop in hand, having adventures and then telling stories inspired by those adventures. Kind of like a digital storytelling wanderer.

Her stories feature complex but flawed characters, lots of quirkiness, snappy banter, and richly imagined worlds.
