About this ebook

Her carefully crafted life is about to be demolished.

After a difficult childhood, Samantha Williams craves simplicity: jigsaw puzzles, lectures at the library, and the students she adores in her role as an elementary school art teacher in the dusty farming community of LaCrosse, Washington.

But when an SUV crashes into the building where she teaches, her entire world is upended. Samantha manages to keep the children safe, but her car isn’t so lucky. Oddly, her purse—with her driver’s license, credit cards, and other identification—is missing from the wreckage.

After authorities discover that the driver in the accident was shot seconds before the crash, Samantha quickly becomes entangled in increasingly strange events that have her constantly looking over her shoulder.

Samantha has long tried to forget the tragedy of her past, but the twisting connections she discovers between the murdered driver, a deadly secret government project, and an abandoned town can't be ignored. Those involved are determined to keep these secrets buried, and they’ll use any means necessary to stop Samantha’s search for truth.

Suspenseful and engaging: Whilst not the most gripping, I nevertheless enjoyed this book. I was drawn into the mystery and suspense and liked the way the plot evolved and clues were revealed. It was unpredictable and kept me wondering what was going to transpire next. Unfortunately some things were rather unrealistic but it was still interesting, especially the aspects surrounding the testing of nuclear warfare within the USA. This wasn't a romance but rather a suspense novel with mention of a relationship having formed when you read the epilogue. There was a Christian element but I think this book would appeal to all readers despite their personal faiths. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is intense and intriguing suspense that is fast paced and action that does not let up. With a lot of twists and some really unsavory and shady characters, the protagonist Samantha is in danger but she doesn’t understand why. Her past is shrouded in mystery and she has to find out what happened in her childhood in order to understand her present. Beginning with a car crashing into the school where she is teaching, this is a thrill ride not to miss! These are my own opinions about this book.
