I think this may once have been assigned to me in an English class long past (which I never read). I was uninterested then, but am thankful to have stumbled upon it again. The tale conveys a primal nature better than most I've read and is well worth the time.

A terrific rendering of the eternity of soul life in all forms. Buck had Sisu as the Finns call it. Formidable resilience and indomitable spirit to overcome all odds. His fierce strength and animal spirit made him a legend and a triumph. I am so glad we weren't made to watch him die. No wonder he is to represent immortality of spirit. So great for anyone looking for inspiration and courage. Also a brownie point for some of us humans who recognize, respect and celebrate animals intelligence and spirit.

I remember first reading the book "Into The Wild" in highschool and it mentioned that Christopher McCandless was facinated with Jack London, so I gave him a try. This was his first book I read, and I must say it is quite good. I enjoyed the style its written, the conceptual aspects, and the deeper lessons involved. It was somewhat hard to follow what was going on through the first two chapters because its just mainly build up to the grander scale, so paging back, highlighting, and rereading numerous times helps clarify confusion. But overall I feel this should be a must read
