Many different measures are used in the assessment of physical, cognitive and psychological functioning of the elderly.
The choice of the measure depends on the group of people to which it is applied (an elderly person living independently at home or with the support from home services, institutional care clients) and on the variables that the measure should quantify (screening of functional deficits, assessment of care needs, assessment of the results of therapy or rehabilitation).
