Fun couple, they have great chemistry. I'm all for opposites attract because of the friction it adds. I really like April and understand her desire to be more of a risk taker. I wish the playing field had been a bit more balanced with the give and take. I didn't really warm up to Cole, his actions were predictable and I just couldn't relate to the thrill of his risk taking and wasn't really sure that he would be trustworthy enough to be in a mature relationship with someone like April, who was definitely all in, regardless. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Cowboy for April by Jamie K. Schmidt, book four in her Three Sisters Ranch series, was an enjoyable, heartwarming tale of ranch and small town life, figuring out who you are, and finding love. April Grayson is determined to be the responsible and trouble-free one in her family; not be one of the "Wild Grayson Sisters". For years April has kept her sisters out of trouble and after losing her “safe” accounting/CPA job, forced to move back home, decided she deserved some time to let loose. Encountering Cole Lockwood, the cowboy she crushed on in high school, she indulges in a one-night stand; one that is as hot as memorable. Since work around Last Stand is scarce, April decides to offer up her accounting services and help ranch-owners in need of such assistance. Her first client is Three Sisters Ranch where she unexpectedly runs into Cole; their rodeo youth director. Cole loves horses, kids and cowgirls, not necessarily in that order, and his job at Three Sisters Ranch. One night with April was not enough, but his parents’ medical bills have him working 24/7, leaving him little time to spend with her. April offers to teach Cole about managing his family’s fiancés if he would help her overcome her fear of horses and learn how to let go, be a little more reckless. Becoming tired of his life, Cole contemplates returning to his professional gambling ways; a way to earn big money, fast. There’s a big stakes game he could enter but April, ever the cautious one, warns Cole that going that route could cost him money rather than make some. It’s going to take some creative persuasion by each of them before April can convince Cole to play it safe and Cole can make a cowgirl out of April. Ms. Schmidt wrote a sizzling, heartwarming tale of ranch and small town life filled with strong magnetism, sizzling chemistry, wonderful dialogue, and endearing characters giving April and Cole a chance at finding love and solutions to their problems. I highly recommend A Cowboy for April to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book

I received a complimentarily copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it. I have adored the prior three books in this series and I was elated to see it continue with this one. I hope that they continue with all three of the Grayson sisters. Another thing that I loved about this book is that it is written in a dual POV format. Cole Lockwood is struggling to keep his head above water and which of the many medical bills of his parents to pay first. He works practically morning, noon and night to earn money not only for the bills but he is also a high stakes poker player. While he makes decent money at all of his jobs it isn't enough. He has rules when he plays as he sees it as a job. He is great at it but when another family medical crisis hits, unfortunately the rules go out the window and desperation hits to make the rules fly away. April Grayson is the dependable Grayson sister and daughter. Unlike her two sisters and mother, April is a CPA and is the rock that the family depends on to see them through an emergency. April faces a crisis of her own when she is laid off at her job. Her mother asks her to come back home to Last Stand. April is tired of being the dependable one and decides to join in with her sisters' (wild Grayson sisters) ways. She goes to the local bar and there is the boy that she fantasied about in school, Cole Lockwood. April and Cole go through some hurdles as they goes through the early stages of their relationship and really what couple doesn't?! I loved seeing the prior couples that make up the first three stories. It was like catching up with friends and seeing what else they are going through. The plot of this story was one that flowed nicely and kept me engaged in the characters. It felt like I was right in the middle of the story. The author does a great job in making me really feel for these two characters and want to make suggestions of my own to help them through. There were times when I wanted to slap both of them (yes, I'm older and wiser) to make them see the errors of their ways (it is so great being a party outside of the action to make calls that you just know will end in a total mess!!!!) While this is a part of a series, you really don't HAVE to read the prior ones to enjoy this but like I previously mentioned the prior couples make multiple appearance and it could help you to understand the dynamics a little better. This is a sexy story so I would not recommend this to anyone under the age of 18. Now if you are OLDER than that, I would definitely recommend this delightful story.
