C. H. Spurgeon was a British Baptist pastor whose work remains meaningful to Christians of all denominations. The father of the modern “mega-church,” Spurgeon is most famous for his pastorship at London’s Metropolitan Tabernacle, where he regularly preached to huge crowds. In addition, Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, poetry, hymnist and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were later translated into many languages.
