Together they represent the final sections in the historical narrative of the Old Testament. Ezra depicts how the God of Israel influenced a Persian king into choosing a leader to carry out three tasks: Rebuilding the temple, purifying the community, and the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. It is the final task that is covered by Nehemiah in this wonderful story...
