It’s the near future, and frustration and rage sweep through the alienated American middle class. All signs point to what’s being called “The Second American Revolution,” as “Middies,” incensed by what they see to be a hopelessly corrupt, elitist, and self-perpetuating government, form a secret militia and prepare to oust the “Leets”—as did their forbears at Lexington and Concord more than two centuries ago.
Amidst this upheaval, Matt Cooper, investigative reporter for a Florida daily, single-mindedly probes the murder of his father, a successful novelist with mysterious ties to World War II Nazi Germany. His obsessive search takes him halfway around the globe, turning deadly when it leads him to the core of an international conspiracy that uses the incipient citizens’ rebellion as a screen for its own efforts to usurp the faltering US government.

Jack D. Hunter (1921–2009) often based his novels on his experiences as a US counterintelligence agent in World War II. The Blue Max was made into a motion picture, and The Expendable Spy was awarded the Edgar Allan Poe Special Award from the Mystery Writers of America.
Grover Gardner has recorded more than 650 audiobooks since beginning his career in 1981. He's been named one of the "Best Voices of the Century" as well as a "Golden Voice" by AudioFile magazine. Gardner has garnered over 20 AudioFile Earphones Awards and is the recipient of an Audio Publishers Association Audie Award, as well as a three-time finalist. In 2005, Publishers Weekly deemed him "Audiobook Narrator of the Year." Gardner has also narrated hundreds of audiobooks under the names Tom Parker and Alexander Adams. Among his many titles are Marcus Sakey's At the City's Edge, as well as Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Mark Twain's The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and John Irving's The Cider House Rules. Gardner studied Theater and Art History at Rollins College and received a Master's degree in Acting from George Washington University. He lives in Oregon with his significant other and daughter.
