Shepherds and Angels

“Hurry up, Timmy!” shouted his father. “The sheep will get away from us.”

“But, I’m trying my best father,” answered the young 11-year-old boy who was also aspiring to be a shepherd.

The night felt special and magical to the other shepherds who were keeping watch over their sheep and goats from vicious animals such as foxes, wolves, lions, and other fierce meat-eating creatures in the dark quiet night in the hills of Israel. They had gotten used to staying up late and even keeping watch over several hundred sheep all at once and at various times. Timmy had Betsy in his hands. She was just a couple of months old. She was his pet. “Ah, tonight feels different from other nights,” said Roadster to Joshua, Timmy’s father. Joshua replied, “Ah, I wonder if something will happen.” “It does feel too quiet and calm.”
