Carey builds each character so well that even the minor ones leave a mark on your heart. She describes her world with such splendor you can't help but see it. Book two dives into the fighting and plotting that book one leaves the reader longing for in abundance. Kudos. 💗

Jacqueline Carey is the author of the New York Times bestselling Kushiel's Legacy series, the Sundering epic fantasy duology, the postmodern fables Santa Olivia and Saints Astray, and the Agent of Hel contemporary fantasy series. She lives in Michigan.
