Kuhusu kitabu hiki cha kusikiliza

From William J. Caunitz, the New York Times best-selling author of Chains of Command and Pigtown, comes a gripping tale of lawbreakers and law benders in the Big Apple. A madman is loose in New York, leaving a trail of slain women in his wake. With each new victim, the appetite of the media grows, until a full-fledged feeding frenzy is underway. Even more treacherous, a tragedy from the killer's past has him bent on revenge against the entire city police force. Enter Detective John Vinda--one cop who doesn't mind bending the rules a little bit to bring the vicious murderer to justice. With more than 20 years of experience as a detective for the NYPD, Caunitz brings an unmatched level of realism to his hardboiled books. Narrator George Guidall enhances the gritty tale with a thrilling reading that transports you to the mean streets of the city that never sleeps.

Kuhusu mwandishi

Born in 1933, William J. Caunitz used his thirty years of New York City police department experience for background in writing numerous novels depicting police corruption. In 1985, Caunitz published his first literary work, One Police Plaza, which gave readers a behind-the-scenes look at the way real cops behave. The book quickly became a New York Times bestseller. After the success of his first novel, Caunitz continued to write whodunit books focusing on the police force. From 1987 to 1993, Caunitz published Suspects, Black Sand, Exceptional Clearance, and Cleopatra Gold. His sixth and final novel, titled Pigtown, published in 1995, was considered by critics to be his best. The book chronicles the investigation of a mob hit that puts lead detective Matthew Stuart and his fellow cops in mortal danger. Caunitz, who divided his time between New York City and a little town in Mexico, died in 1996 at the age of 63. George Guidall is one of the most prolific narrators of audiobooks in the world. He has recorded nearly 650 unabridged novels, everything from "Crime and Punishment" and "The Iliad" to "Snow Falling on Cedars." He began his career as an actor, appearing on Broadway and touring Europe with Helen Hayes in the "Glass Menagerie," " Miracle Worker" and "The Skin of Our Teeth." He received an Obie Award for Best Performance Off-Broadway, and has continued his performances in theater for over 40 years. Guidall has also appeared on television, with roles on the soap "One Life to Live" and "Law and Order," and in movies such as "Malcolm X" and "Tales from the Darkside." His first job reading audiobooks was for the Library of Congress' American Foundation for the Blinds' Talking Books. Since then he has won the most prestigious Audiobook Award, the Audie Award, for Best Unabridged Narration of a novel for his recording of John Irving's "A Widow for One Year." He won the Audie again in 2000 for Wally Lamb's "I Know This Much is True."
