I went into this expecting god to need a star ship and kirk falling off of a mountain. Turns out, this is not a novelization of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. I spent the whole time waiting for the George Kirk Sr. story to end and for the movie plot to kick in, and it never did. That said, this is a much better story than Star Trek V.
