About this audiobook

Secrets are my specialty.

I’m Mai Fairchild --- fox shifter, sister’s keeper, and bane of the local werewolf pack. In a world where different is dangerous, my sister and I must pretend to be human at all costs. Too bad I just lost the job that lets me live under the radar while putting food on my sister's plate.

Enter an enticing werewolf who offers enough cash to upgrade our diets from ramen noodles to salami if I join him on a magical hunt. But can I afford to accept the opportunity when the risk of working closely with every fox shifter's sworn enemy is so great?

would rate this book 3.5 if i ciuld. I can't stand Mye. she's quite selfish and entitled and the story just drags. Her sister is a brat and seems undeciplined. I honestly found myself getting upset each time Mye spoke or did something where she's only thinking of herself with the dissolution that she's doing all she does foe her sister. I would have loved for Gunner to have more of a voice. I love the concept but the characters (my and her sister) need woek. Oh the cover for this book. there is AI out there that could have given a way better pic of what Mye could look like. the imagine of her in the story does not match up to what's on the cover which is a shame. I like to associate the cover with what's being said. this girl on the cover is unattractive compared. that's my rant I wouldn't recommend this book at all. I was going to get the others but nope. too frustrating. why are all these book reviews the same. so fake!! hopefully my honest review isn't deleted.

Great start to a new series and this time it's not only wolves...you've got foxes too. Mai and her sister are all alone in the world and are two fox shifters in hiding surrounded by werewolves. With both her parents dead, Mai finds herself doing whatever she has to in order to protect her sister and their secret. A skilled fighter, Mai takes part in an underground fight club to help make ends meet. Gunner is an alpha werewolf who along with his pack leader brother and some other packmates has come to the city to try to discover who is behind some supernatural killings. Mai and Gunner's paths keep intersecting and the find themselves not only drawn together by circumstances but attraction as well. When faced with no other options, Mai reluctantly turns to Gunner for help only to find herself in over her head. When her little sister is kidnapped and her secret is on the verge of exposure, will Mai have the strength to do what needs to be done to save her sister? Will the revelation of her secret be the end or just the beginning? This book was action-packed and you will find yourself drawn into the story as you try to guess what will happen next and you will be brought along as Mai discovers more about her heritage. Can't wait to see where this series goes! Audio Version Review: The narrator does a fantastic job and is a delight to listen to. Great pace to the story that can easily be sped up and still understood. It was easy to tell when characters were talking versus the narration of the story. There are distinct voices for each character, but I have to say Gunner's gruff and growly voice was perfect for the alpha wolf he is.

I really enjoyed Mia and Gunner’s tale. At a young age Mia had to take responsibility for her younger sister Kira. It’s been challenging trying to raise Kira while trying to find out more about her species. Mia is an admirable individual yet I felt she should have been more organized. I’d go into more detail with that but I don’t want to spoil anything. I admittedly wasn’t a huge fan of her little sister. I couldn’t believe she did some of things she did. I loved Gunner. I can see him becoming Mia’s rock. I can’t wait to find out how the rest of their story is going to go. I felt the narrator did an excellent job. (4.5⭐️)
